A campus for the talented from all over the world
The new headquarters of trivago – the operators of the global hotel search engine – are located in the Düsseldorf Mediahafen district. To create an appropriate head office and the best possible working environment for the international team from 50 different countries, slapa oberholz pszczulny | sop architekten designed a global campus, giving around 2000 employees the highest possible quality of accommodation.
The first part of the construction comprises the six-storey, teardrop shaped building, which faces the harbour basin. Almost 2,000 square metres of multi-functional glazing has been used for the facade and a whole range of different glazed structures was supplied by ISOLAR® partner ODERGLAS GmbH from Müllrose. This led to an award in the Property Competition at Annual Conference 2018 of the ISOLAR® Group.
The trivago company headquarters at harbour basin A on Kesselstrasse is an architectural highlight with generous open spaces, which creates a playful, balanced effect at the junction of many civic building lines and edges. trivago is making a clear statement of their corporate philosophy with their new headquarters. Open space offices, creatively designed rooms, water areas, green outer spaces, catering areas and fitness facilities, such as a jogging track on the planted roof terrace come together to provide a remarkable, pleasing, inspiring experience.
The elongated architecture at base level can be divided into two constructions. The horizontally divided facade is defined by sculptural protruding, white balustrades. A pleasing, varied spatial structure arises from the many terraces, balconies and loggias. The main entrance is situated on the southern side of the site and is strikingly located with a two-storey passage.
“You could say this project required us to call upon virtually all of our product range,” explains Christian Dahlick, Managing Director of ODERGLAS GmbH. The broad range of glass requirements drew on numerous different combinations of functions, including thermal insulation, sound insulation, sun shading and impact safety. “The wide range of tasks involved from glass cutting, and grinding the edges, right up to use of alarm systems meant that the entire production unit was used in this project”, Plant Manager Sebastian Blontke goes on.
In total, for the trivago headquarters project, ODERGLAS GmbH produced ISOLAR SOLARLUX neutral /// 62.37 including noise insulation and impact safety features in over 10 different finishes. The skills displayed in producing and delivering the insulation glass, were recognised by the ISOLAR® Group in the competition “Property 2017” with an award in the category “Creative Projects”.
